New Delhi: Another exciting match of IPL 2026 was played on Sunday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) surprised everyone by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 43 runs. With this win, RCB has performed brilliantly on its home ground and won for the second time in a row, while Chennai has suffered its third consecutive defeat this year.
The story of RCB reaching the top of the points table
RCB, under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, has now reached the first position in the points table of IPL 2026. Earlier, RCB had defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening match. On the other hand, the situation of Chennai Super Kings is continuously deteriorating, which after Rajasthan and Punjab has now lagged behind in the points table after losing to Bengaluru also.
Strong partnership between Tim David and Patidar
In this match, RCB, batting first, scored a huge score of 250 runs after losing 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Initially, Virat Kohli (28) and Phil Salt (46) gave a fast start, after which Devdutt Padikkal gave strength to the team by playing a half-century of 50 runs. But the real turning point of the match was the pairing of Tim David and captain Rajat Patidar, who made an unbeaten partnership of 99 runs in just 35 balls for the fourth wicket. David won the game by scoring 70 runs in just 25 balls with the help of 8 sixes, while Patidar contributed 48 runs.
Chennai’s middle order failed
Chennai Super Kings, which set out to chase the huge target of 251 runs, had a very bad start. The team came under pressure during the powerplay itself as the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad (7), Sanju Samson (9) and Ayush Mhatre (1) fell. However, Sarfaraz Khan played a fighting inning of 50 runs in 25 balls, but Krunal Pandya gave a blow to Chennai’s hopes by dismissing him. In the end, Prashant Veer (43) and Jamie Overton (37) struggled, but the entire team was all out for 207 runs.
