Bollywood’s beautiful and outspoken actress Janhvi Kapoor is known for her films as well as her fearless style. Janhvi, who often raises the temperature of the internet with her glamorous pictures, has this time exposed a bitter truth of the entertainment world which almost every actress has to face. Recently, Janhvi has expressed her strong displeasure over ‘Paparazzi Culture’ and interference in the privacy of celebrities. He has revealed that he held a private meeting with the photographers and reprimanded them for their inappropriate actions.

Said bluntly to paparazzi in private meeting

Venting her anger in the podcast of famous YouTuber Raj Shamani, Janhvi said that she had recently called the paparazzi and explained to them in clear words. Janhvi said that the way photographers deliberately zoom the camera on the body parts of actresses or click their pictures from wrong angles, it does not come under the ambit of ‘consent’ in any respect. The actress clarified that all this is extremely insulting to her and a direct violation of her privacy.

‘It is wrong to treat women as objects for money and views’

Janhvi especially emphasized that if an artiste comes out of the house wearing nice clothes, it does not mean that he is giving license to someone to zoom the camera on his private parts. Putting a sharp question on the mentality of the paparazzi, he asked, “How can you people respect your work, when you present a woman’s body as an object against her will just for a few money and video views?” After this strong stance of the actress, the photographers listened to her carefully and also seemed aware of their mistake.

Example given from the song ‘Bheegi Saree’: What is consent?

During the podcast, Janhvi also explained the real meaning of ‘consent’. Giving the example of the famous song ‘Bheegi Saree’ from one of her films, she said that of course her look and dance in that song were quite sensual, but all that was completely as per her wish and as per the demand of the film.

Janhvi candidly said, “I have complete freedom to wear clothes of my choice. But taking pictures from wrong angles without my knowledge, editing them in slow-motion and zooming in an awkward manner is not my consent at all. Even if I am on a film set and the DOP places the camera at a place where I am not comfortable, then there too I have the full right to say ‘no’.” This step of Janhvi is being praised a lot and it is a strong voice for all those women who suffer from this discomfort behind the camera.
