Indian benchmark indices extended their upward momentum on April 6, with both the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 ending sharply higher. The Sensex climbed 787 points to close at 74,107, while the Nifty 50 advanced 255 points to settle at 22,968. Markets recovered from early-session losses and finished near the day’s high, supported by broad-based buying across sectors.
Among the top gainers in the Nifty 50 pack, Trent led the chart, rising 8.0% to close at ₹3,834.82. The stock saw the strongest gains of the session.
SBI Life Insurance moved up 3.7%, ending at ₹1,840.46. Titan Company also gained 3.6% to close at ₹4,244.01, while Adani Enterprises added 3.6% to finish at ₹1,899.56.
Shriram Finance rose 3.5% to ₹922.83. Axis Bank advanced 3.3% to ₹1,237.63, and UltraTech Cement also gained 3.3%, closing at ₹10,969.03.
Engineering and infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro ended 3.2% higher at ₹3,727.01. Bajaj Finance rose 2.8% to ₹850.02, while HDFC Life Insurance closed 2.8% higher at ₹581.71.
