Parents typically take great care in arranging their children's marriages, conducting thorough investigations into various aspects such as education, family background, and occupation. However, sometimes these inquiries do not yield the expected results, leading to broken engagements. A recent incident in Madhya Pradesh exemplifies this, where a wedding was abruptly canceled after two rounds of rituals, leaving the groom to return home without the bride. Let's delve into the details of this unusual occurrence.
Ceremony Interrupted After Two Rounds
In the village of Odila, located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a wedding ceremony was underway when family members intervened to halt the proceedings. Preparations for the wedding had been ongoing for two months, and the groom's party had already arrived. Despite the couple being present at the mandap and several rituals taking place, the ceremony was called off before the completion of the seven rounds. Following the cancellation, both families began to exchange accusations.
Cancellation Due to Family Lineage Concerns
According to the bride's family, the mandap was beautifully decorated, and both the bride and groom were present. However, the rituals could only proceed for two rounds before the bride's family decided to stop the wedding. They claimed that the bride and groom shared the same lineage, which made them akin to siblings, thus invalidating the marriage. The bride's family insisted that the couple's gotra was the same, leading to the cancellation.
Discontent Over Wedding Transportation
The groom's family dismissed the bride's family's allegations, stating that they did not arrive in a jeep or bus, which the bride's family preferred. Instead, they brought the wedding party in a truck and tractor, which was not well-received by the bride's side. Following the cancellation, the matter escalated to the police station for resolution. The bride's family also removed all dowry items from the vehicle after the wedding was called off.
Wedding Scheduled for June 17
The groom's family asserted that they had conducted thorough checks before finalizing the wedding. However, when the bride's family insisted on a jeep for transportation, the groom's family stated that it was beyond their budget, leading them to use a truck and tractor instead. The police are currently investigating the situation, hoping to restore peace, but the bride's family remains unwilling to proceed with the marriage.
