Satuwai Amavasya 2026: According to religious belief, the main reason behind calling Amavasya of Vaishakh month as Satvai Amavasya is the special significance of Sattu on this day. Donating and consuming Sattu on this day is considered very auspicious. Vaishakh or Satuvai Amavasya will be celebrated on 17 April 2026.

This date is called Satuvai Amavasya because the word ‘Satua’ means ‘Satua’ i.e. Sattu made from roasted gram or barley. And in the summer season, this Sattu gives coolness and energy to the body. It is easy to digest.

One should take bath in the holy river on this Amavasya. If it is not possible to do this, then mix a little Ganga water and sesame seeds in the bath water and take bath. By doing this also you will get virtuous results. After bathing, one should add sesame seeds to water and offer it to the Sun. On this day, offerings should be made for the ancestors.
