Eye problems and use of eye drops
Nowadays, it has become common to work on screens, play mobile games or use laptops for long periods of time. This can cause problems like redness, irritation, dryness and fatigue in the eyes. Many people buy eye drops from medical stores and use them without thinking. However, experts say that this habit can gradually damage your eyesight.
side effects of eye drops
There can be many reasons behind eye problems, such as allergies, bacterial or viral infections, dry eyes or serious diseases like glaucoma. Using medicine without proper investigation leads to the real problem not being detected and proper treatment being delayed. Many times wrong eye drops hide the problem, but the damage keeps increasing from inside.
Use of dangerous eye drops
In particular, eye drops containing steroids are the most harmful. They provide instant relief, due to which people use them again and again. But long-term use can increase eye pressure, leading to the risk of glaucoma. Apart from this, the risk of cataract also increases due to steroids.
Incorrect use of antibiotic eye drops can also cause problems. If the infection is viral, the antibiotic will not be effective and may make the bacteria stronger. Some people regularly use redness-reducing drops, but these can affect the nerves in the eyes.
When to see a doctor?
If there is severe pain in the eyes, vision starts pricking, vision becomes blurry, vision suddenly decreases or the problem does not get cured in 2-3 days, then immediately contact an eye specialist. Do not delay even if there is injury or excessive watering of eyes. In mild problems, applying cold water or resting may be better. Experts advise not to take medicine on your own for any eye problem. Doctors find the exact cause and provide safe treatment.
