Again Falut, heavy snowfall in Sandakphu, advise tourists not to go!

In addition to Sikkim, heavy snow fell again in Darjeeling’s Sandakphu. Falut, the highest point of West Bengal, is also covered in snow. According to the sources of the Meteorological Department, the highest peak of the state, which is 3,636 meters above the sea level, is likely to receive heavy snowfall till April 12. The tourism industry is happy about the untimely snowfall. Despite the Met Office’s warning, heavy snowfall may disrupt communication systems. Hence it is advised to avoid traveling to high mountain areas.

Central Meteorological Department Sikkim Center Director Gopinath Raha said, “There is a high chance of rain and snowfall in the higher areas of Sikkim and Darjeeling hills till Sunday. The communication system may be disrupted due to snowfall. Therefore, tourists have been advised to avoid travel to the higher areas of the hills.” According to the sources of the Meteorological Department, Sandakphu on the India-Nepal border has turned white due to snowfall since Monday night. Earlier on March 21, March 28 there was snowfall. State Eco Tourism Committee Chairman Raj Basu said, “Continuous snowfall in March-April is rare in Sandakphu. The news of snowfall has increased the number of tourists. But the problem has been the storm and heavy snowfall. Due to this, tourists are not allowed to take risks.”

Since Tuesday morning, Sandakphu has been bustling with tourists. Manebhanjan is covered in a sheet of ice. But despite the rain, no snow fell in Darjeeling city and Tiger Hill. Low-lying areas including Tunglu, Tamling of Darjeeling received light rain on Tuesday. A large number of tourists left for Sandakphu due to the news of snowfall. There, leaves of trees, roads, grass are covered with snow. Meanwhile, the situation is similar in North and East Sikkim. Lachung, Lachen, Zero Point, Gurdungmar Lake in North Sikkim and Nathu-la, Changu valleys in East Sikkim also experienced heavy snowfall on Tuesday. The road to Gurudongma has become dangerous due to snow cover. Besides, the road from Yumthang to Zero Point has also become impassable due to snowfall. Several roads from Chungthang to Lachung and Mangan are open, although caution has been issued for movement of large vehicles except light vehicles.
