An unnamed Strictly Come Dancing star, who was arrested on suspicion of rape last year will not face criminal charges, police have revealed. The man, whose identity remains unknown, was arrested on October 13, 2025 and was released on bail under investigation. Now, Hertfordshire Police have released a new update on the case after seeking advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

It is understood that detectives determined there was "insufficient evidence" to bring the criminal charges to court. The Sun reported at the time that the man was alleged to have raped a woman after a BBC event. The outlet claimed the woman was not a contestant or a professional dancer on the show, but had met the man through his involvement in the competition.

It is understood this development was not related to the most recent series of the dance competition, which airs from September to December and is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

In a statement on Tuesday (April 7), a spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday, 13 October 2025, on suspicion of rape. The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action.

"Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges."

The unnamed star's arrest last October came after another man involved in the BBC reality show was also arrested on suspicion of rape just two months earlier in August.

The Metropolitan Police said at the time that the man was also suspected of "non-consensual intimate image abuse". It is not known what role the individual had in the programme.
