Supercomputing Center Hack: China, famous in the world for its advanced technology and strong cyber security, has now itself become the victim of a major cyber attack. The country which was proud of its “impenetrable” supercomputer system, has now raised serious questions on its security system by breaking into hackers.
According to reports, a major cyber theft has taken place in China’s National Supercomputer Center, from where highly confidential information to fighter jets, missile design and war simulation was stolen.
The biggest data theft in history?
This cyber attack is being considered as one of the biggest data leak incidents in the history of China. According to the information, hackers have stolen more than 10 petabytes of data. If we understand it in simple language:
- A typical laptop has about 1 terabyte of storage.
- That means hackers stole about 10,000 terabytes of data
This incident took place at the Supercomputer Center in Tianjin, which is considered very important for more than 6,000 institutions, especially aerospace and defense research.
How did the hackers attack?
The most surprising thing is that no cutting-edge technology was adopted for this major attack. According to cyber experts:
- Hackers entered the system through a compromised VPN entry point
- Data was not extracted all at once, but in small portions
- This entire operation continued for about 6 months.
Due to the data being extracted in pieces, the security system could not detect this theft in time.
Sensitive data leaked on the internet
This entire matter came to light when “FlamingChina” An account named shared some sample files on Telegram. These files included documents marked “Top Secret”, data to missile technology and bombs.
Now data is being sold
According to media reports, hackers are now trying to sell this stolen data. It is being told that thousands of dollars are being demanded for a small preview of the data, while the price of the entire dataset has been kept at millions of dollars, which can be purchased through cryptocurrency. Although this matter has not been officially confirmed yet, this incident is being considered a big alert for global cyber security.
Why is this news important?
This incident clearly shows that even the world’s strongest cyber security is not completely secure. In such a situation, it has now become very important for every country to strengthen its digital system.
