The UK could again bask in hot weather again later this month, with weather maps suggesting temperatures could again soar to 21C. The latest maps from WXCharts are showing another 'mini-heatwave' for Sunday, April 19, and Monday, April 20.

The south of England will be the warmest area, according to the maps, especially the South East, with temperatures reaching as high as 21C on both days, with the region likely to be the "driest and brightest" in the country. Temperatures in Scotland and the north of England will range from 13C to 17C, while much of the rest of England could also reach 19C, particularly in the Midlands and the South West, as well as in Wales. A Met Office forecast for the period covering April 14-23 reads: "Changeable at the start of this period with low pressure to the west or northwest of the UK. This will bring showers or longer spells of rain at times, heaviest and most persistent in the northwest together with some strong winds.

"The southeast is likely to be driest and brightest. Later, conditions may become drier and more settled, especially in the north and east, but parts of the south and west may still see some showers or longer spells of rain. Temperatures will likely be near to or slightly above average."

This will come after temperatures reached 26C yesterday (April 8) in what the Met Office said could be the warmest April for six years.

In their forecast for the day, the Met Office said the UK could expect "a fine day with plenty of sunshine and feeling very warm in places, especially across the south and east," with temperatures rising between 18C to 26C.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "As Storm Dave has now moved away, and this high pressure is building behind it, we're now dragging up warmer air from the continent. It's one of the seasons where it can change really quickly, day on day."
