Sparks were flying in the I'm A Celebrity camp this evening when Sinitta branded Gemma Collins a "joke" in a bizarre clash about musical theatre. On Thursday night (April 9), Ant and Dec returned to the helm, where they the music mogul faced off against Sean Walsh in a nail-biting head-to-head challenge. But minutes into the show, tensions were on set when the two rival camps merged after spending four days apart.
It was at this point that the 62-year-old musician sparked fury with the TOWIE legend over the popular musical, Chicago. Sinitta starred in the West End musical as Matron 'Mama' Morton, a role Gemma herself was due to reprise in 2022.
It was only a matter of time before the topic came up, as Sinitta asked: "What happened with Chicago? Because you were supposed to follow me as Mama Morton in Chicago, it was like announced and everything."
Gemma bluntly replied: "I had a terrible injury... it was something to do with the insurance". Despite the believable response, Sinitta was quick to question her response. She snapped back with: "I'm sorry, but I'm going to admit it, when I heard you were going to do it, I thought it was a joke announcement.
"I think you'd just presented something at an awards show and fell off the stage. It was like you were more of a comedian." Clearly offended, Gemma asked: "But why, Sinitta? It's not a joke, I auditioned for it and got it fair and square. I did all the training and the voice coach."
Sinitta then compared Gemma to Zsa Zsa Gabor, adding: "I thought you were that girl, like you don't really do anything, but you make a great entrance and you make everybody laugh. But I didn't know you could actually sing, dance and all that jazz."
The comments from Sinitta certainly stung, and she wasn't the only person taken aback by her comments. Watching on, Scarlett Moffat mouthed "What's happening" to Seann Walsh as the pair came to blows.
Gemma added: "I don't think you get cast as Mama Morton in Chicago if you could not get past the audition. I am not a joke, darling. I have done everything in my life on my own." It didn't take long before viewers flocked to social media to react to the explosive scenes online.
One user penned: "Sinitta did really call Gemma 'joke casting'" as another agreed: "Sinitta and Gemma providing more drama in this episode alone than the main series has provided in the last 5 years." A third echoed: "Sinitta usually comes across as lovely, the hunger must be setting in" as a fourth argued: "David and Sinitta, I wouldn't mind if you went home today."
