Sreeleela has been on the receiving end ever since she remarked on working during periods. The actress, in her recent interaction, revealed that she has shot many songs while being on her period and stated that she believes physiological and psychological barriers should not be used as excuses.

Now, her reaction has met with a strong response from netizens, with many pointing out that menstrual experiences aren't the same for everyone.

What did Sreeleela say?

During the success meet of Ustaad Bhagat Singh held in March, Sreeleela spoke about working during her periods and said, "All of my songs, I can say, most of them at least, have been appreciated. I have shot while I have been on my period, so that is not an excuse anywhere. When we want things in power, when we say we want things equally, I feel we have to push beyond physiological barriers. So psychological, physiological, all of this is not an excuse.”

As soon as these remarks by the actress went viral, netizens started reacting to them. One wrote, "I mean, the intensity of period pain/cramps and the tolerance level is different for different people, right? She can't generalize it."

"Please don’t call her a doctor. There’s a huge difference between working your ass off for hundreds of exams over 5-6 years and being handed over the same because you’re rich and famous," another one wrote.

A third user, meanwhile, commented, "Oh shut up! She should be making the male-dominated society aware of women’s problems, not asking us to be more like the guys. You don’t have to tell anyone we have to push past this barrier. All women already do. We push through despite the pain and discomfort!"

Another comment read, "This kind of mindset towards your own gender reminds me of a quote I read a while ago: 'You are a woman with a man inside watching a woman. You are your own voyeur.' The patriarchy runs so deep, it’s laughable."

On the work front, Sreeleela is awaiting her Bollywood debut with Anurag Basu's next, starring Kartik Aaryan as the lead. She also has a Tamil project with Dhanush, tentatively titled D55, which will also star Mammootty and Sai Pallavi in pivotal roles. The film is set to be directed by Amaran fame Rajkumar Periasamy.
