Katapadi : Dendoor Sakharam Shetty (64), a social worker and entrepreneur, passed away due to illness on April 11 at a private hospital in Udupi.
He was known for his active role in social and religious activities and was a former partner of V4 Developers. He was also the owner of a bar in Dendoorkatte and a hotel entrepreneur.
Sakharam Shetty had served as the former president of the Udupi Rural Buntara Sangha. He also contributed as the president of the renovation committee of Sri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapathi Temple.
He was actively involved in several temples, organisations, and community activities in the region and was known for his public service. He also supported social, religious, and sports activities in Dendoorkatte and nearby areas.
He had served as the president of the Dendoorkatte Ganeshotsava Committee, was a private bus owner, and a member of management committees of several educational institutions.
He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and family members.
Family sources said that the public can pay their last respects at his residence in Dendoor from 8 am on April 12, and the final rites will be held around 11 am.
