Grand National jockey Robbie Dunne, who was riding Stellar Story, has been taken to hospital after suffering a nasty fall. Dunne is conscious and talking and is being taken to hospital for further assessment. Three horses are currently being assessed after a chaotic race at Aintree Racecourse in which seven riders were unseated and seven horses fell.
Top Of The Bill is up and walking after a scare following the race, which was won by Paul Townend aboard I Am Maximus in a repeat of 2024 for Willie Mullins. Top Of The Bill was assessed on course by the expert veterinary team and there were fears for his life. But he has walked back to the stables where he will be assessed.
Quai De Bourbon also walked on to a horse ambulance and was taken back to the stables for further assessment. Mr Vango is also being assessed.
Patrick Mullins, who won the Grand National last year with Nick Rockett, is also in with the physio after being unseated at the first fence by Grangeclare West.
Aintree Racecourse said in a statement: "Top of The Bill was assessed on course following his fall at the final fence. He was walked back to the stables where he will remain under assessment.
"Quai De Bourbon has walked onto the horse ambulance, having been assessed, following his fall at the second fence and has returned to the stables for further assessment.
"Mr Vango has walked onto the horse ambulance following his fall at the sixth fence, having been assessed, and has returned to the stables for further assessment.
"Jockey Robbie Dunne was assessed on course by the medical team. He is conscious and talking and is being taken to hospital for further assessment. All remaining horses and riders are accounted for."
The news comes just hours after Get On George was humanely put down after pulling up. Gold Dancer was the other fatality of the Aintree Festival on Friday.
Favourite I Am Maximus powered to victory to become just the second horse ever, after the iconic Red Rum, to reclaim the crown. Iroko came second with 33/1 shock Jordans in third after leading much of the race.
Johnnywho and High Class Hero rounded out the top five with Favori De Champdou in sixth.
