Hong Kong International Airport has been named the world’s best airport based on votes cast by 2.5 million travelers from more than 150 countries at the Global Travel Awards this year.
Organized by International Media & News Group based in the U.K., the 20-year-old awards recognize the best hotels, airports, airlines and destinations.
Vivian Cheung Kar-fay, Airport Authority Hong Kong CEO, pledged to continue expanding the airport’s network to reinforce the city’s role as an aviation hub.
“We are truly honored to receive the best airport awards across such a wide range of areas, which reflect the dedication and collective efforts of the entire Hong Kong International Airport community,” Cheung said as quoted by the South China Morning Post.
The sole international airport in Hong Kong spans 1,900 hectares and has been operational since 1998. The airport currently connects to 220 destinations through 120 airlines.
It handled 61 million passengers in 2025, a 15% year-on-year increase, after having recently upgraded its services and infrastructure.
According to the 2026 World Airport Awards by London-based aviation consultancy Skytrax, Singapore’s Changi Airport was voted the world’s best overall, an honor it has held repeatedly over the past decade.
