Mumbai Asha Bhosle, the brightest and versatile voice of Indian music, is no more with us. His death at the age of 92 on Sunday plunged the entire nation into mourning. On Monday, his last rites were performed with full state honors and rituals at Mumbai’s historic Shivaji Park. Amidst resounding slogans of ‘Asha Tai Amar Rahein’, his son Anand lit his funeral pyre. Asha Tai’s last journey was no less than a celebration, as she lived her life. At the time of his last farewell, many Bollywood artists including music stalwarts Shaan and Anoop Jalota bid him a heartfelt farewell by singing his own timeless songs. This scene was heart touching, on one hand there were tears in the eyes, on the other hand there was gratitude for his tunes.

Health and last moments

Asha was suffering from health problems for some time. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on April 11 due to breathing problems. When his condition worsened, he was shifted to the ICU, but despite many efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved. Doctors confirmed that he died due to multi-organ failure.
