Hyderabad: A government school in Nizampet has been transformed into a modern space. The transformation ensures that visually impaired children can learn without limitations.

Earlier, the school functioned as a regular primary school. Now, it has been developed into a fully equipped institution for children with visual impairment. The transformation happened after complaints raised on public grievance platforms were taken seriously and acted upon by the administration.

The development was carried out under the Telangana government’s programme “Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika (99-Day Action Plan)”. The Government Primary School in Nizampet, located in Khammam, has been upgraded into a modern special school.

The initiative was implemented under the leadership of District Collector Anudeep Durishetty.

Classrooms have been redesigned to support inclusive education. Traditional chalkboards have been replaced with Braille learning, audio tools and smart technology.

A sensory room has been created to help students learn through touch, sound and balance. In order to improve creativity and confidence, a music room has also been added.

The school now provides several special facilities, including Braille books, assistive devices, audio-based learning and a smart technology lab.

Students have access to smart learning tools such as the ANNIE Smart Braille Device, educational games like chess, ludo, puzzles, and sound cricket balls. They also use Braille slates, abacus, geometry kits, and tactile alphabet cards.

An amount of Rs 18.5 lakh has been spent on the project. The transformation has not only improved infrastructure but also created better access and dignity for visually impaired students.
