While these themes have been available on the mobile apps for quite some time, no such option currently exists on the web version. This update will completely transform the visual appeal of WhatsApp Web on desktops and provide users with customization capabilities.

What Will Change with WhatsApp Web Chat Themes?

According to media reports, this upcoming feature will allow users to select a default chat theme on WhatsApp Web. This will change not only the chat theme itself but also the color of the message bubbles. Currently, customization features on WhatsApp Web are limited; users only have the option to set a default wallpaper and add a doodle overlay. The new update will address this shortcoming, providing web users with the same new customization options currently available to Android and iOS users.

Company Testing 49 Theme Variations

This feature will support chat-level customization, meaning users will be able to set different themes for each individual chat. An added benefit of this feature is that it will make it easier for users to distinguish between personal, work, and group chats. To implement this, the company is simultaneously testing 49 different theme variations. These variations will include distinct tonal options featuring various shades and colors. Reports indicate that work on this feature is currently underway, and it is expected to be rolled out to beta testers very soon.

Calling Feature Coming Soon to WhatsApp Web

The company is also working on another exciting feature for WhatsApp Web. Much like the WhatsApp mobile app, users will soon be able to make voice and video calls directly from WhatsApp Web. The biggest advantage of this feature is that users will not need to download a separate application on their laptop or PC specifically for calling. This feature will also support group calls, allowing up to 32 people to participate in a single group conversation simultaneously. Calls initiated via WhatsApp Web can be joined from any device, including PCs, laptops, and smartphones. This feature is expected to be rolled out soon.
