The international terminal at Da Nang International Airport has maintained its five-star rating from global aviation rating organization Skytrax for a third consecutive year thanks to improved passenger flow efficiency and digital transformation.

In its March 2026 assessment, Skytrax said the rating is based on independent surveys of facilities and service quality.

Despite operating above the designed capacity, it has maintained high standards across key areas like terminal space, waiting areas, cleanliness, passenger information systems, service amenities, and digital experience.

The operational efficiency score also improved significantly, driven by the opening of additional processing lanes during peak hours, helping ease congestion amid a sharp rise in international arrivals.

The terminal also maintained a strong performance in core service categories by enhancing digital touchpoints, particularly check-in and passenger information systems.

Non-aviation services, including cleanliness, signage and waiting areas, continued to receive positive evaluations.

But the terminal is under growing pressure: It handled more than 6.8 million passengers in 2025, way above its designed capacity of four million a year.

To address this, its operator, the Da Nang International Airport Investment and Operation Company, is expanding the terminal to raise capacity to six million passengers, focusing on enlarging waiting areas and optimizing service touchpoints to maintain service standards.

“The expansion is a strategic step to reduce infrastructure pressure and meet rising passenger expectations,” Do Trong Hau, deputy general director of the company, said.
