Why was KKR’s Blessing Muzarabani banned for 2 years? Know the whole matter

These days, in the world of cricket, the tussle regarding players between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) has intensified. In this series, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned Zimbabwe and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for 2 years. The board alleges that he decided to play in IPL by breaking the contract of PSL 2026, which is against the rules.

Blessing Muzarabani was included in the PSL by Islamabad United as a replacement player. However, when he got a chance in IPL during this time, he decided to join KKR without any delay. After this move, PCB took strict action and banned him from PSL for two years.

Actually, Blessing Muzarabani did not find any buyer in the PSL auction. After this Islamabad United included him in the team. However, after KKR’s Mustafizur Rahman was out, the franchise called up Muzarabani. He left the PSL contract midway and moved to IPL and performed brilliantly by taking 4 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad in his very first match.

Banned for 2 years

This time PCB has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against indiscipline. Last year, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch also broke his PSL contract and joined Mumbai Indians in the IPL, due to which he was banned for a year. In the case of Blessing Muzarabani, the punishment has been doubled to 2 years, which is being considered as a strong message for other players. The Board believes that using contracts as ‘options’ will not be tolerated.

Many more giants on PCB’s radar

Blessing Muzarabani is not the only player who has shocked the PSL this year. Names like Spencer Johnson (CKS) and Dasun Shanaka (RR) have also chosen to leave PSL commitments and play in the IPL. However, no official action has been taken on them yet, but after this big action on Muzarabani, it is believed that PCB may take some more tough decisions in the coming days.
