One notable incident involved Driver becoming violent during a rehearsal when Dunham forgot her lines. She also expressed her feelings of betrayal when Driver got engaged to Joanne Tucker shortly after they had a close moment, leaving her heartbroken.

In her memoir, Dunham describes a specific incident where she witnessed Driver throw a chair against the wall during a rehearsal. Dunham reflected on Driver's volatile nature, stating, “I spent an inordinate amount of time wondering if Adam liked me. He could be short-tempered and verbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposing. He could also be protective, loving even.”
