The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken major action against targets linked to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal and his son. Raids were conducted simultaneously at 8 to 9 places including Gurugram, Punjab and Jalandhar. This action is being taken on the basis of allegations of alleged irregularities to the fund.
According to the information, ED teams have started investigation at Ashok Mittal’s house, farmhouse and other places. The agency team has also reached his Lovely Professional University (LPU), where the documents are being examined. It is being told that this action has been taken after indications of irregularities in some matters to the funds of the university.
Ashok Mittal is AAP’s Rajya Sabha member from Punjab and also the founder and chancellor of Lovely Professional University. This action has been taken after he was recently given a big responsibility in the party. On April 2, Aam Aadmi Party appointed Ashok Mittal as the deputy leader of the party in Rajya Sabha. He has taken this responsibility in place of Raghav Chadha. This change was formalized by the party by sending a letter to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
Earlier, while talking to IANS, Ashok Mittal had expressed gratitude to the party leadership for this new responsibility. He thanked Arvind Kejriwal and said that he will play this role with honesty and dedication. He had talked about raising the voice of the party strongly in the Parliament and outside the Parliament. He also assured to give priority to the interests of the country and especially Punjab. He had expressed confidence that he would live up to the trust reposed by the party.
At the same time, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted to this action of ED on the social media platform ‘X’. He wrote, “BJP is preparing for Punjab elections. ED’s raid on AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal’s house and university – typical Modi style.” He further said, “We are not leaves that fall from the tree. Storms should understand their limits.
