Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Wednesday described the Central government’s proposed Delimitation Amendment Bill as a major historical injustice to Tamil Nadu and other southern states. He called for protests across the state by showing black flags. Stalin questioned whether Tamil Nadu and the southern states were being punished for contributing to India’s development. Chief Minister MK Stalin alleged that people across South India are angry with the proposed move. Warned BJP not to go ahead with this. Stalin said that every South Indian living south of the Vindhyas is boiling with anger. BJP is playing with fire. Calling for protests, the DMK president urged people to hoist black flags at their homes and public places across Tamil Nadu. He said that tomorrow black flags will be hoisted on houses and public places in protest against delimitation across Tamil Nadu. He said that if the Central Government ignores the voice of Tamil Nadu and does not withdraw the proposal, you will have to face the consequences. For this you will have to pay a heavy price. The comments come as the government prepares to table major legislative proposals during a special session of Parliament to be held on April 16, 17 and 18. In this session, along with amendments in the Nari Shakti Vandan Act 2023, a proposed delimitation bill will also be discussed. According to sources, the central government is considering a significant expansion in the size of the Lok Sabha as part of its broader plan to implement the Women’s Reservation Act by the 2029 general elections. This proposal includes increasing the total number of seats in the Lok Sabha from the current 543 to 850.
