Punjab. In a major action, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the premises of Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Kumar Mittal on Wednesday morning. This action was taken simultaneously at his residence, institutions and business premises in Jalandhar and Phagwara, which has created a stir in political and business circles.

Action started from 9 am-
According to sources, ED teams from Delhi surrounded several places simultaneously at around 9 am. Heavy police force was deployed outside Mittal’s residence, while officials inside were conducting a thorough investigation of documents and financial transactions.

Many locations of Lovely Group are under investigation.
ED’s action reached many establishments linked to Lovely Group. Lovely Professional University (LPU) along with Lovely Autos, Lovely Sweets and Lovely Distance Education Center are also under investigation.

Apart from this, investigation is also going on on the residential and business premises to Mittal family, where ED teams are examining the documents.

FEMA violation case-
It is being told that this entire action is being taken in the case to alleged violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The investigating agencies are especially keeping an eye on records to financial transactions and foreign funding.

Political context is also important-
It is noteworthy that Aam Aadmi Party had recently removed Raghav Chadha from the post of Deputy Leader of Rajya Sabha and handed over this responsibility to Ashok Mittal. In such a situation, this action is also being considered important from the political point of view.

Mann and Kejriwal’s counterattack-
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted sharply to this action, saying, “BJP has started preparations for Punjab elections… This is typical Modi style.”

At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also said that “the people of Punjab will not tolerate this and will give a befitting reply to BJP.”
