On Thursday, a tragic accident took place in Sonnadi near Chhath Ghat under Chopan police station area, where a truck driver who had gone to take bath died due to drowning. There was panic in the entire area after the incident. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and started searching for the youth with the help of local divers. According to the information received, the deceased has been identified as Jitendra Kumar (35 years), son of Rameshwar, resident of Chachibar, Fatehpur Sikar (Rajasthan). He was a truck driver by profession and used to transport goods. It is being told that on Thursday, his truck suddenly broke down in Markundi area, due to which he came to Preetnagar in Chopan with two of his friends to buy necessary parts.

After purchasing the goods, in the afternoon he along with his friends went to take bath in Sonnadi near Chhath Ghat. While bathing, suddenly his slippers started flowing in the flow of the river. While trying to catch the slipper, Jitendra moved ahead and inadvertently went into deep water. Within no time he got caught in the strong current and started drowning. His friends present at the spot tried to save him, but due to the strong flow of water they could not succeed. Within a few moments Jitendra disappeared in the river. When the friends raised an alarm, the people present nearby also gathered on the spot and immediately informed the police about the incident.

As soon as the information was received, Chopan police reached the spot and after taking information about the incident, called local divers and started the search operation. Divers are continuously searching the river, but till the time of writing the news, the body could not be recovered. After the incident, the companions of the deceased were crying in bad condition, the police station in-charge Inspector Akhilesh Mishra said that necessary action has been taken and the family members have been informed. As soon as the body is recovered, further legal process will be completed.
