Is your phone repeatedly filling up for no reason? WhatsApp's auto-download feature could be the culprit. By changing the appropriate settings, you can get rid of unwanted photos and videos, wasted data, and cluttered gallery space. Let's find out how.
Is your gallery getting filled with unnecessary photos and videos? WhatsApp's auto-download feature could be the reason. It automatically saves media. If you're tired of deleting them every time, don't worry. In just a few simple steps, you can keep your gallery clean by turning off WhatsApp's auto-download. Let's learn the complete process.
How to turn off auto download feature in phone?- Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Scroll down and go to Storage and data option.
- Click on it and then scroll down to Media auto-download.
- Now deselect all the media types given under the three options Mobile data, Wi-Fi and Roaming.
- Click on your WhatsApp profile photo and scroll down to the Chats section.
- Inside Chats you will get the option of Media auto-download.
- By clicking on this, you can check or uncheck photos, videos or other media types as per your need.
- In this setting, you'll also find the option for Media upload quality. Here, you can adjust the media quality to your liking.
When WhatsApp or other apps automatically download photos and videos, your phone's storage slowly fills up. Often, the gallery gets clogged with useless photos and videos, leaving no time to clean them up.
Not only that, but this feature also quickly consumes your mobile data. Especially when downloading high-quality photos or videos, internet data can be consumed very quickly. This can sometimes lead to slow internet speeds. However, if you prefer, you can change your settings to allow media downloads only over Wi-Fi. This will save data and keep your phone under control.
