A devastating accident occurred on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway early Friday morning, causing widespread alarm. A speeding tempo traveler collided with a stationary Thar vehicle and motorcyclists in the Vijay Nagar police jurisdiction. This horrific incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals, with one more reported injured.
The collision took place around 6:10 AM near the IPEM College exit point on the main expressway lane heading from Delhi to Meerut. According to police reports, a Thar vehicle was parked on the roadside, and two occupants had stepped out to converse with a motorcyclist when they were struck from behind by the tempo traveler.
Casualties and Investigation
One person from the Thar and the motorcyclist died instantly at the scene, while another passenger from the Thar was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Authorities have confirmed that the death toll has risen to three. The deceased have been identified as Deepak and Praveen, while the identity of the third victim remains unknown.
The tempo traveler, which was en route from Delhi to Haridwar, was carrying 26 female passengers at the time of the accident. The driver, identified as Virender, has been detained by the police, and an investigation is ongoing.
