New Delhi. After two days of continuous discussion on the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill, i.e. the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, in the Lok Sabha, this bill failed in the evening voting on Friday, April 17. This constitutional amendment bill could not be passed. A total of 298 MPs voted in favor of this bill, while 230 MPs voted against it. A total of 528 MPs took part in the voting. According to this number of MPs, 360 votes were required for the bill to be passed, which could not be achieved.

Due to lack of complete numbers, this bill fell in the Lok Sabha itself. Along with this bill, the government also withdrew two other bills which it had brought in the Lok Sabha. Also, Lok Sabha has been adjourned for 11 am on Saturday.
Home Minister Amit Shah accused Congress of keeping the delimitation pending and said that for 50 years the people have not got their representative in proportion to the population. He said that they are opposing the women’s reservation bill. They will have to face the anger of their mothers and sisters in the elections and will not find a way.
During the discussion on this bill, there was a fierce dispute between the parties and the opposition on Friday. There was a huge uproar. The parties in the ruling coalition had their own arguments on the amendments to the Women’s Reservation Bill. At the same time, the opposition questioned the credibility of the government. Akhilesh Yadav even said that even if BJP gives it in writing that the next Prime Minister will be made to a woman, we will not trust it.
