In a recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane expressed admiration for all-rounder Cameron Green, who scored a commendable 79 runs against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Despite KKR's defeat by five wickets, marking their fifth consecutive loss, Rahane highlighted Green's courageous batting performance.

KKR struggled early in their innings, finding themselves at 32-3 within just four overs. Green then partnered with Rovman Powell, who contributed 27 runs, forming a crucial 55-run partnership. He later teamed up with Anukul Roy (9 runs) to add another 60 runs, ultimately leading KKR to a total of 180 runs in 20 overs, a challenging target given their initial struggles.

Post-Match Reflections

During the post-match press conference, Rahane praised Green's ability to counterattack during a difficult phase for the team. He noted that Green's innings was the only fifty from KKR's batting lineup, stating, "The kind of innings he has played has been amazing. We were three wickets down, but the counterattack; he took his time. It's never easy when things are not going your way, but the courage he has shown was fantastic. Credit to him. We reached 180 because of Cameron Green's efforts."

Maintaining Positivity Amidst Challenges

GT successfully chased down KKR's score, led by captain Shubman Gill's impressive 86 runs, with two balls and five wickets to spare. Following the match, Rahane emphasized the importance of staying positive and focusing on one game at a time, despite the ongoing losses. He acknowledged the difficulty of losing but reassured that the team is committed to giving their best.

Rahane remarked, "One game at a time. We don't want to think too far ahead. It's tough when we are losing matches. Everyone is trying their best. No one wants to lose any matches. We all want to win the games, but that's how sport has been. There's always hope, and you always want to be positive rather than thinking about negatives."

KKR's Current Standing

Currently, KKR finds itself at the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table, having not secured a win in six matches. They have faced five defeats and had one match abandoned against the Punjab Kings, resulting in a total of one point.
