There are many foreign auto companies in India, which are trying to win the hearts of customers by offering the best cars. However, many auto companies have hiked the prices of their vehicles in this new financial year considering the rising production costs. Recently, Citroen has also increased the price of its popular SUV.
Citroen has launched its ‘Basalt X SUV Coupe’ prices have been hiked. The company has increased the prices of most of the variants of this car by Rs 40000. The implementation of these new prices has started with immediate effect. This is the second time the company has raised prices in the year 2026; Earlier, the prices were increased in the month of January as well. Although no specific reason is given for the price increase, such changes are usually made to accommodate rising production costs and inflation.

New price
The entry-level ‘You’ variant of the Citroen Basalt X is now priced at Rs 8.55 lakh ex-showroom; 40,000 has been recorded in the price, up from Rs 8.15 lakh earlier. Additionally, the price of the ‘Plus’ 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol manual trim has been increased by Rs 37,000 from Rs 9.62 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh.
Price increase for other variants as well
The price of other variants of this SUV has been increased by around Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000. The Plus Turbo-Petrol Manual has been priced at Rs 11.42 lakh from Rs 11.02 lakh. Also, the Max Turbo-Petrol Manual has been priced at Rs 12.47 lakh from Rs 12.07 lakh, while the Max Dual-Tone Manual has been priced at Rs 12.68 lakh from Rs 12.28 lakh. The automatic versions of the Plus, Max and Max Dual-Tone have also seen a hike of around Rs 40,000, now costing around Rs 12.67 lakh, Rs 13.75 lakh and Rs 13.96 lakh respectively.

Engine and Performance
Two 1.2-litre petrol engine options are offered in this model. The first is a naturally aspirated engine producing 80 bhp of power and 115 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The other is a turbocharged engine that produces 108.5 bhp of power and 205 Nm of torque and is available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Citroen Basalt X competes directly with cars like Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster and Kia Seltos. These changes reflect increasing competition and market trends in the compact coupe-SUV segment. Citroen continues to focus on maintaining modern design and uniqueness in its lineup.
