The company has announced that Hastings will not seek re-election to the board of directors after his term ends in June. This decision has come at a time when he had already left the post of Co-CEO and assumed the role of Executive Chairman.

Greg Peters praised Hastings, saying, “Reed will always be Netflix’s founder and biggest supporter, he is part of our DNA.” Ted Sarandos also described his contribution as the foundation of the company.

The change came amid major decisions of the company

This move of Hastings has come to light when recently Netflix acquired Warner Bros. Had distanced himself from the race to buy Discovery. However, the company has clarified that this decision has nothing to do with Hastings’s departure.

Reed Hastings started Netflix in 1997. Initially the company used to send DVDs, but later by becoming a streaming platform, it changed the way the whole world watches entertainment.
