Abhishek Sharma’s explosive start set the tone as Sunrisers Hyderabad edged past Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs in a thrilling Match 27 of Indian Premier League 2026 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday.
Opting to bat, SRH stormed out of the blocks with Abhishek unleashing a brutal assault on the CSK bowlers. He smashed a rapid 15-ball fifty, tearing into the attack with fearless strokeplay. Travis Head joined the carnage with a flurry of boundaries as SRH raced to 75 in the powerplay.
CSK responded through Mukesh Choudhary, who removed Head thanks to a brilliant diving effort from skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, and followed it up with the wicket of Ishan Kishan. Abhishek’s blazing innings was eventually cut short when he edged Jamie Overton behind.
Amid the middle-order wobble, Heinrich Klaasen steadied the innings with a fluent 59 off 39 balls, mixing innovation with power, including a switch-hit boundary and a towering slog-sweep. Contributions from Nitish Kumar Reddy and others kept the scoreboard ticking, but CSK struck back at the death.
Anshul Kamboj delivered a crucial blow by clean bowling Klaasen with a pinpoint yorker and then dominated the final over, picking up key wickets. SRH eventually posted 194 for 9.
Chasing 195, CSK began aggressively with Sanju Samson and Gaikwad finding early boundaries, while Ayush Mhatre launched a counterattack with a 24-run over.
However, SRH clawed back through Reddy, who removed Samson and Mhatre, while Eshan Malinga struck immediately to dismiss Gaikwad. A rebuilding stand between Matthew Short and Sarfaraz Khan briefly revived CSK’s hopes before regular wickets derailed the chase.
Shivam Dube tried to keep the fight alive, but his dismissal proved pivotal. Late fireworks from Overton and Kamboj added drama, yet SRH held their nerve in the closing moments.
A key breakthrough from Praful Hinge in the final over sealed the contest as CSK finished at 184 for 8, falling just short.
In the end, Abhishek’s blistering knock combined with SRH’s composure under pressure ensured a hard-fought 10-run victory.
