Mastermind of violence in workers’ protest arrested, confessed to crime after hours of interrogation

An important development has come to light in the case of violence during workers’ protests. Police have arrested the alleged mastermind of the case, Aditya Anand alias Rasti, who confessed to his role during interrogation within hours of his arrest. A joint team of Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissionerate and Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested the accused from Tiruchirappalli railway station in Tamil Nadu. According to the police, a reward of Rs 1 lakh was declared on Aditya Anand and he was absconding for a long time. He was constantly changing his location to avoid arrest.

Officials said that a non-bailable warrant was already issued against the accused and raids were conducted in several states to nab him. During interrogation after his arrest, he admitted his involvement in the conspiracy of violence that took place during the labor movement in Noida.

According to the police, Aditya Anand, a software engineer by profession, had allegedly planned to turn the peaceful protest into a violent one. Investigation has also revealed that he organized provocative activities in a planned manner and carried out the entire incident.

A case has already been registered against him under serious sections in Phase-2 police station. The police will now take the accused on remand and investigate other aspects of the case and the possible network. Officials say other accused are being identified on the basis of electronic evidence and technical analysis and efforts to arrest them have been intensified.

Meanwhile, the Labor Department has initiated massive action in the industrial areas of Noida following the recent labor protests. The department has issued notices to 43 contractors, while licenses of 10 contractors have been canceled due to serious violations.

Additional Labor Commissioner Rakesh Dwivedi said that many contractors had been warned earlier also, but now strict action has been taken for not making improvements. During the inspection, many irregularities like non-payment of minimum wages, lack of documents and non-compliance of safety standards at the workplace came to light.

Recently, contract workers in the industrial areas of Gautam Buddha Nagar had protested demanding wages, timely payment and safe working conditions. This movement highlighted long pending issues to labor rights. According to the administration, violation of labor laws will not be tolerated and such action will continue in future also.
