PTC News Desk: Two Indian men were shot dead in Covo late on Friday (April 17) after an assailant opened fire as they were leaving the square outside Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji following a gathering for the Vaisakhi festival. The gurdwara, set up in a converted warehouse, is located in the town’s industrial area.

According to local reports, the victims were identified as 48-year-old Raginder Singh, a resident of Covo, and Gurmit Singh, also 48, who lived in nearby Agnadello. The attacker reportedly approached them shortly before midnight, fired multiple shots, and then escaped by car.

Police recovered around ten shell casings from the scene, suggesting the attack was targeted and possibly pre-planned. Early findings indicate it was not a spontaneous clash, with investigators treating it as a deliberate and calculated killing.

The incident has deeply shaken the Indian and Sikh communities in the area, especially as it took place just before a planned Vaisakhi celebration on Saturday. Italian authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to track down the suspect and uncover the motive behind the attack.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
