BYD Cars : The impact of worldwide supply chain problems and rising costs is also being seen in the auto sector. In this series, Chinese electric vehicle company BYD has announced an increase in the prices of its cars in India. The company will increase the prices of its entire model lineup by 2 to 3 percent from May 1, 2026. This decision has been taken due to increasing input costs. BYD (Build Your Dreams) offers premium electric vehicles (EV) in India, known for their high-tech ‘blade batteries’ and long range.

As per the new prices, BYD cars in India could be costlier by around Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, depending on the model. This change will be applicable to all variants. BYD currently sells four electric vehicles in the Indian market. These include BYD Atto 3 SUV, BYD eMAX 7 MPV, BYD Seal Sedan and BYD Sealion 7 SUV. Their starting price starts from Rs 24.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 54.90 lakh.
The company said that this decision has been taken due to the rising prices of raw materials. Especially the prices of materials like aluminum and petroleum coke, which are used in making batteries, have increased. Apart from this, due to supply problems in the Strait of Hormuz, transport and import costs have also increased. This has directly affected the price of vehicles.
