The music of Dhurandhar has always stood out, feeling like a breath of fresh air in front of all that Bollywood has been presenting lately. Shashwat Sachdev’s name is on everyone’s lips as he contributed greatly to Aditya Dhar’s musical taste. However, much like how a lot of the first film’s music was made in the last minute, so was the sequel’s.

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge featured a completely different soundtrack compared to the first film. Although it was different, it was still highly praised. One of the voices behind the songs confirmed that even the sequel featured last-minute songs.

Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Vaibhav Gupta talked about how he had been working on Destiny – Mann Atkeya since early February, but the final version of the song hadn’t been shortlisted until the very end. In fact, with paid previews of the film starting from March 18 evening, they managed to finish the song on March 17, which was also the day when the album was launched.

“I sang almost 6 versions of the song. The version that made it to the film was recorded at 6 in the morning on March 17, on the day of the album launch! There were 1 or 2 takes. In all, I took around 15 minutes to record the song.”

He continued, “I had no idea where exactly it would be placed in the film. However, I had a faint idea that it would arrive at a crucial juncture. And when I saw the film with the star cast, I realized it arrives at an important part of the film, where Jaskirat turns Hamza.”

He concluded, “When I met Shashwat sir for the first time, he played a tune on the piano and asked me to sing. That’s when Aditya sir came. He heard my voice and asked, ‘Kaun gaa raha hai?’. Then Shashwat sir told me, ‘Vaibhav, bahut acchi awaaz hai. Pakk chuki hai yeh awaaz’! He suggested to me how to give vocal rest. Aditya sir, meanwhile, said, ‘Tumhari awaz mein kuch baat hai. You have no idea how successful you will be’! That motivated me a lot.”

Despite the many versions of the song that were recorded, there were also others who had lent their voice to the song as well, but in the end of the day, they chose Vaibhav, and he was able to embody the importance of the song through his voice.
