Desk. A new type of malware attack is being seen in Android smartphones which can cause serious damage to our personal information. Once installed it is extremely difficult to remove. It is more advanced than a normal virus and can hijack most of the functions of a device. Security agencies have advised users to be alert and know how this malware works. Government bodies have suggested some important methods so that you can identify this malware.
Because of gaining control over a device, this new malware has been named ‘God Mode’ malware. It takes advantage of Android Accessibility Services to gain access to the system. Once accessed, it is able to read messages, monitor user activity, and take actions on users’ phones without their knowledge. It can intercept OTPs, gain access to contacts and even manage simple aspects of the phone.

This virus usually spreads through fake apps. These applications resemble well-known applications such as bank applications or utility apps. Users download them accidentally through links posted in messaging applications or other unofficial APK files. After installation, this app asks for permission to have complete control over the phone. After that, unknown apps may appear in the phone even without icons. Some applications may request frequent access permissions. Users may also receive suspicious SMS or redirected calls. Sometimes when this happens, it is not possible to uninstall apps or modify permissions.
Users are advised to install apps only through official platforms like Google Play Store. You should avoid downloading any kind of APK files from unknown sources. Never click on any suspicious link sent through messages. Before giving access, one should also check the permissions of the app to see whether it is asking for complete control of the phone.
