WhatsApp security improvements

Nowadays, WhatsApp is no longer just a medium for chatting; It has also become important for office work, photo and video sharing, and family groups. In such a situation, many users are worried that some outsider may gain access to their WhatsApp account, due to which their private chats, photos, videos and important information may be leaked. To solve this problem, WhatsApp has introduced a special security feature.

Two-Step Verification: What is it?

Two-Step Verification is an additional security measure that requires the user to set a 6-digit PIN for their WhatsApp account. It has several benefits, such as not requiring a PIN along with OTP, which provides protection from SIM cloning or hacking and makes unauthorized login almost impossible.

How to activate two-step verification?

– First of all, open WhatsApp app in your phone.

– Android users click on the three dots at the top right, while iOS users tap on the Settings icon at the bottom.

– Go to Settings and go to Account option and select Two-Step Verification there.

– Then, tap the Turn On button.

– Now you have to set a 6 digit PIN which you remember but which is difficult for others to guess.

– After setting the PIN, you will be asked for email ID. It depends on your wish whether you want to add email or not, but if you add email, the PIN can be recovered through email in case you forget it.

How to manage or turn off 2FA?

– First of all, go to Settings and tap on Account.

– Then go to two-step verification.

– There you can change the PIN or even turn it off.

Recovery Email for WhatsApp PIN: Things to Note

– Never share the PIN with anyone, even if it is your close friend.
