Watch: First Ball Fury! Jofra Archer Destroys Tim Seifert's Stumps
Cricket Gully | April 19, 2026 11:40 PM CST

The Rajasthan Royals' paceman Jofra Archer has had yet another dream start as he takes the wicket on the very first ball of the innings this time taking the wicket of Tim Seifert. The Rajasthan Royals were looking to defend a target of 156 and Jofra Archer delivered right away with an accurate delivery that shattered Tim Seifert's stumps and got the crowd roaring.

With Archer bowling full and straight with slight inward movement Archer finds the inside edge on Tim Seifert's bat and goes through to crash into the off stump to give the Rajasthan Royals the perfect start. This is the third match in a row where Archer has picked a wicket on the very first ball of an innings.

This wicket also put him into another elite category as Jofra Archer becomes just the second pacer to take a wicket in their very first ball of an innings at the IPL, joining Mohammed Shami who currently also has 5 wickets from a very first ball in an innings.

RR Score 155 Post Powerplay Collapse

Rajasthan Royals scored 155/9 in their 20 overs. They got off to a blistering start with a 81 run opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Sooryavanshi scored the bulk of the runs in that stand with a good score of 46 off 28 balls whereas Jaiswal scored 39.

However, the middle order couldn't maintain that momentum as a slew of wickets followed the departure of Sooryavanshi. Skipper Riyan Parag could only score 12 while Shimron Hetmyer never seemed to find his rhythm as he could only score 15 off 18 balls.

A handy late cameo from Ravindra Jadeja and Archer helped their team past the 150 run mark, but it still looked below par on what is a very good batting surface.

Chakravarthy and Tyagi Star with the Ball

With the ball, Varun Chakravarthy and Kartik Tyagi were both excellent. Chakravarthy took 3 crucial wickets for his side and kept things extremely tight from his end. He finished with a very economical 3.50. Tyagi was equally important with his 3 wicket haul, especially in tying down the opposition scoring rate. Narine was also good in taking 2 wickets including the important one of Jaiswal. Rajasthan Royals couldn't make the most of their fine start and finished on 155.

Archer's early breakthrough has shifted the pressure back onto the chasing side and he once again demonstrated with current form that he is still arguably the best bowler in the competition.
