CM Yogi Adityanath cornered the opposition for not passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill. He called it against the respect of women and while mentioning several government schemes, he said that the government is committed to women empowerment.
Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strongly attacked the opposition for not passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Act Amendment Bill in the Parliament. She said that this move of the Indi alliance is against women's dignity and is an "unforgivable sin", which the women of the country will never forgive.
He said that it is extremely unfortunate that the opposition celebrated and made irresponsible statements after the bill was defeated. CM Yogi compared it to the incident in Mahabharata when Draupadi was disrobed in a public meeting. He called it insulting to both democracy and women's respect.
PM Modi's thinking: Four main classes - poor, youth, farmers and women
During the press conference at the BJP office in Lucknow, the Chief Minister said that as soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power in 2014, he had made it clear that there are four major classes in the country - poor, youth, farmers and women. He alleged that some parties weakened the country by doing politics in the name of casteism and whenever the government took any progressive step, the Congress and its allies opposed it.
Opposition cornered on anti-women mentality
CM Yogi said that half of the country's population is angry due to the behavior of the opposition in Parliament. He accused parties like Congress, Samajwadi Party, RJD, TMC and DMK of being accomplices in this “sin”. He said that the opposition has always created obstacles to stop the steps taken by Prime Minister Modi for every section of the society.
Nari Shakti Vandan Act: What is the whole matter
The Chief Minister said that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act was passed in 2023. Later, on the demand of women's organizations, an amendment was brought to implement it from 2029 instead of 2034. He clarified that the rights of any state will not be taken away under this law. A plan has been made to increase additional seats in the Lok Sabha and Assemblies to provide 33% reservation to women.
South Indian states also got assurance
CM Yogi said that some southern states were worried about reduction in seats. On this, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister assured that on the basis of 2011 census, seats will be increased in equal proportion in all the states.
Opposition's behavior compared to Draupadi's disrobing
The Chief Minister said that the behavior of the opposition in Parliament was extremely objectionable. He said that if this bill had been passed unanimously, the entire House would have got credit for it. He said that this was an important step for the respect and rights of women, which was stopped by the opposition.
Politics on reservation for Muslim women
Taking aim at the Samajwadi Party, CM Yogi said that they raised the issue of separate reservation for Muslim women, which is against the spirit of the Constitution. He told that even at the time of making the Constitution, reservation was opposed on the basis of religion. Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had strictly rejected it.
Mention of Shah Bano and triple talaq
The Chief Minister said that Congress had weakened the rights of Muslim women in the Shah Bano case. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi provided justice to women by banning triple talaq. He said that this law was also opposed by the opposition, which shows their double attitude.
Major schemes of the government for women
CM Yogi said that the Central and State Government have launched many schemes for the empowerment of women:
- Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign
- Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
- Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana (₹25,000 assistance)
- Ujjwala Yojana (11 crore families benefited)
- Swachh Bharat Mission (12 crore toilets)
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (4 crore houses)
- Ayushman Bharat Scheme (treatment up to ₹5 lakh)
He said that these schemes have brought great improvement in the safety, health and dignity of women.

The Chief Minister said that in Uttar Pradesh:
- 26 lakh daughters benefited from Kanya Sumangala Yojana
- 65 lakh families benefit from housing scheme
- Pension to 1.06 crore women
- 6 lakh daughters get married through mass marriage scheme

- Women self-reliant through 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme
- Employment through BC Sakhi and Milk Producer Program
- Large number of women in 96 lakh MSME units

Targeted again at the opposition
Taking aim at the Samajwadi Party, the Chief Minister said that they had the opportunity to support women's rights, but they opposed it. He alleged that the opposition only does politics of dynasticism and ignores the interests of women, youth, farmers and the poor.
Appeal to women and support of NDA
CM Yogi appealed to the women of the country not to accept this anti-women conduct. He said that the NDA alliance stands strongly with women for their respect and rights. He expressed confidence that whenever women get an opportunity, they perform better in every field and play an important role in the development of the country.
