Namita Thapar, a judge on Shark Tank India, has responded strongly after facing weeks of online abuse over a video in which she spoke about the health benefits of offering namaz. What began as a discussion around wellness and physical benefits quickly turned into a controversy, with trolls targeting not only her but also her family.

In a recent video shared on her social media, Namita revealed that she has been subjected to abusive messages for nearly three weeks. She expressed disappointment that a conversation centered on health triggered such backlash, especially when she has previously spoken about practices like yoga and Surya Namaskar without any negative reaction. She questioned why appreciation for one practice should invite hate when she has consistently highlighted wellness across different traditions.

Addressing the criticism directly, Namita emphasized the importance of respect in all religions. She stated that while people often raise their voices on larger social issues, there is silence when individuals—especially women—are subjected to online abuse. She made it clear that she would not remain silent and would stand up for herself.

She also reiterated her personal identity, saying she is a proud Hindu, while reminding critics of the concept of karma. Her message was firm: actions have consequences, and spreading hate reflects more on those who engage in it.

The controversy began after she shared a reel following an Eid gathering with friends, where she discussed how namaz can function as a form of full-body movement and also has social benefits. While some viewers appreciated the perspective, others reacted negatively, leading to widespread trolling.

Through her response, Namita has highlighted a broader issue around online behavior, urging for more respect, understanding, and balance in how different beliefs and practices are perceived.
