During the SRH victory vs CSK on April 18, a fan was believed to be using black magic to help SRH win as a wicket fell for CSK. The video and the fake letter by CSK complaining to BCCI went viral. Now, former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, who debunked the myth, said that while this one was fake, black magic was used earlier on in the IPL.

According to Lalit, a team owner used it during the 2011 edition. That edition was won by CSK and they became the 1st to win consecutive editions. "Seems fake this time. But one team owner did indulge in this type of practice," he wrote in his post.

"I remember I posted about a team owner doing this to the opposing team, by doing exactly this themselves in the opposing team's dressing room. I even alerted the opposing team owners about this way back in the 2011 season, when it happened and I received an alert with concrete proof. I will reveal all these types of activities, and who conducted them, in the movie or TV series as decided by my team," he added in another post.

As of now, SRH are 4th while CSK are 7th. SRH’s next game is vs DC on April 21 while CSK face MI on April 23. SRH won their only IPL title in 2016 while CSK have done so in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023. SRH lost in the 2018 final to CSK while CSK lost in the 2008 final to RR, to KKR in 2012, to MI in 2013, 2015 and 2019.

Out of the 70 league games of IPL 2026, 29 have been played. PBKS lead the pack while MI are last. The top four teams shall be determined by May 24. The final is on May 31.

RCB are the defending champions while RR are the 1st-ever winners. CSK and MI share the record for most titles at the moment. It remains to be seen if the winner of IPL 2026 is an old one or a new one.
