Synopsis

KTM has launched new 350cc variants of the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure in India, leveraging a lower GST slab to make its performance bikes more accessible. Priced significantly lower than their 399cc counterparts, these models offer a compelling entry point into KTM's aspirational lineup.

After introduction of 350 cc versions of Triump two wheelers, KTM has also introduced new 350cc variants of the 390 Duke and KTM 390 Adventure in India, making its performance-oriented lineup more accessible by leveraging the lower 18% GST slab applicable to sub-350cc motorcycles. Both KTM and Triump have partnership with Bajaj in India.

The KTM 390 Duke 350 is priced at Rs 2,77,268 (ex-showroom), while the KTM 390 Adventure 350 comes in at Rs 2,80,905 (ex-showroom). This makes the Duke 350 around Rs 62,000 more affordable than the existing 399cc version, now rebranded as the ‘R’. KTM will continue to sell the full 390 range alongside these new variants.

The price advantage comes from the revised 350cc engine, which falls under the 18% GST bracket. Despite the reduced displacement, the engine produces 41.5 PS and 33.5 Nm—slightly lower than the 399cc unit’s 45.3 bhp and 39 Nm.

In terms of hardware, the Duke 350 remains largely unchanged. It weighs 168kg—just 0.3kg lighter than the 399cc model—and features a lower 800mm seat height, improving accessibility for shorter riders. It continues to ride on 17-inch wheels with WP suspension, while braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends with switchable dual-channel ABS. A Bluetooth-enabled TFT display remains part of the package.

The Adventure 350 continues to position itself as a versatile dual-purpose motorcycle, combining touring comfort with off-road capability. It uses a steel trellis frame, along with an adjustable USD front fork offering 200mm travel and a rear monoshock with 205mm travel.

According to Bajaj Auto’s Probiking President Manik Nangia, the move aims to widen KTM’s reach:
“The 390 Duke and 390 Adventure are among the most aspirational motorcycles in India. With the new 350cc variants, we are passing on the GST benefit directly to customers, lowering entry prices while retaining core KTM performance.”

KTM says the strategy is focused on expanding its customer base without compromising on performance, design, or technology. The brand continues to see India as its largest global market, with over 450 retail outlets and nearly 5 lakh customers.

Overall, the new 350cc variants retain the core DNA of the 390 platform—offering similar features, ergonomics, and performance character—while making KTM ownership more attainable for a wider audience.
