Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match played on Monday, April 20, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by a huge margin of 99 runs and registered a one-sided victory. In this match, Mumbai performed brilliantly in every department and kept Gujarat under complete pressure.
Tilak Verma’s explosive innings became the turning point of the match
During Mumbai’s batting, Tilak Verma, playing aggressively, completely failed the strategy of Gujarat bowlers. He scored unbeaten 101 runs in just 45 balls and rained shots all around the field. His brilliant innings included 7 sixes and 8 fours, due to which his strike rate was very high. Tilak also got good support from Naman Dheer, who added 45 runs. On the basis of the important partnership between the two, Mumbai scored a strong score of 199 runs.
Gujarat’s batting completely disintegrated
Chasing the target of 200 runs, the Gujarat team looked under pressure from the very beginning. Captain Shubman Gill was out after scoring 14 runs, while Jos Buttler and Rahul Tewatia also returned to the pavilion cheaply. At one time the team’s score was 5 wickets for 55 runs, due to which the hopes of comeback were almost ended. Ultimately the entire team was reduced to just 100 runs in 15.5 overs. Washington Sundar scored the highest score of 26 runs, but he did not get support from any other batsman.
Mumbai’s bowling did all the work
Mumbai bowlers presented an excellent example of disciplined and aggressive bowling in this match. Ashwani Kumar performed brilliantly and took 4 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs and broke the back of Gujarat’s batting. Apart from them, Mitchell Santner and Allah Ghazanfar also completely destroyed the middle order by taking 2 wickets each. Due to continuous falling of wickets, Gujarat team was never seen making a comeback in the match.
In this way, Mumbai Indians strengthened their position in the tournament by registering a big win on the basis of excellent performance.
