He said that under this campaign, NCB has achieved success by getting strictest punishment to 73 drug criminals in the first three months of 2026. We are determined to shut down every corner of drug rackets with all our might.
Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in a statement recently that NIDAAN, developed by the NCB in collaboration with the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), integrates the data of criminals arrested by all drug- law enforcement agencies across the country, including identification details, photographs, fingerprints, case details and court- information.
He said the diagnosis assists the investigating agencies in opposing bail, seeking cancellation of bail, monitoring habitual offenders and preparing proposals under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, 1988, thereby strengthening coordinated and proactive enforcement action.
Giving details of the ongoing fight against drug trafficking networks in the country, he informed that the Government has approved a scheme for modernization of forensic capabilities, under which Rs 420 crore has been sanctioned for modernisation/upgradation of Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs) in States/Union Territories.
He said that under the Scheme of Assistance to States and Union Territories for Narcotics Control, financial assistance is being provided to the eligible States to strengthen the enforcement capabilities to combat illicit trafficking of NDPS substances.
