Why Rohit Sharma is not Playing vs GT in IPL 2026
Cricket Gully | April 21, 2026 3:43 PM CST

Mumbai Indians faced another setback as Rohit Sharma was not included in the playing XI against Gujarat Titans in the 30th match of IPL 2026. The match is being played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, April 20.

The fans now doubt Rohit because his absence coincides with Mumbai's ongoing difficult season.

Reason Behind Rohit Sharma’s Absence

Rohit Sharma is currently recovering from a hamstring injury. The injury occurred when he played against Royal Challengers Bengaluru during a match. He had to leave the field during his second inning because of discomfort he experienced while batting.

Since that time, he has not participated in any matches. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya already confirmed that Rohit had to miss multiple matches because he needed time to complete his recovery.

Rohit has resumed training but he requires additional time before he can compete again.

Mumbai Indians Under Pressure

The Mumbai Indians have faced multiple challenges during their IPL 2026 season. The team has lost four matches in a row and is struggling to find form. The absence of an experienced player like Rohit Sharma has made things more difficult.

Rohit had started the season well. He scored 137 runs in four matches at a strong strike rate of 165.06. His form at the top was important for the team.

The team needs additional players to perform better because he makes their batting less stable.

Gujarat Titans Look Confident

The Gujarat Titans enter this match with a strong feeling of confidence. The team has won its last three games and is looking in good form.

Shubman Gill the captain won the toss and selected to field first. Another victory will strengthen Gujarat's position in the points table while they maintain their successful tournament performance.
