LED Credit Card: Credit cards equipped with LED lights have now been launched in India. The LED credit card—a collaboration between CheQ and AU Small Finance Bank—makes the payment experience both interactive and secure by lighting up during ‘tap-to-pay’ transactions.
Benefits of the LED Credit Card: In today’s digital era, the usage of credit cards is growing at a rapid pace. Now, it is not just in metro cities; people in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are also utilizing credit cards on a massive scale. Amidst this trend, a new and surprising piece of news has emerged: credit cards featuring LED lights have now been launched in India.
What is an LED-Enabled Credit Card?
CheQ and AU Small Finance Bank have joined forces to launch the country’s first LED-powered co-branded credit card. The standout feature of this card is its ‘tap-to-pay’ LED functionality; simply put, the built-in LED light illuminates the moment you tap the card to make a payment.
How Does This Card Work?
Notably, this card comes equipped with an in-built LED lighting system. The LED light activates whenever a user performs a contactless payment. A unique aspect of this technology is that it draws power from the NFC field of the POS terminal, meaning it requires no internal battery. This feature enhances the payment experience, making it both more interactive and secure.
A Simplified Rewards System
The rewards system accompanying this card is also quite distinctive. All rewards are awarded in the form of “CheQ Points,” which users can easily track and redeem on a single, unified platform. This eliminates the hassle often associated with the complex rewards structures found in traditional credit cards.
How Can You Get This Card?
Another notable feature of this card is its support for UPI. Users can link their RuPay credit card to their UPI account to make payments with ease, all while simultaneously earning rewards. Regarding this card, applications can be submitted starting April 28, 2026, via the CheQ app, where the subsequent application process will be completed.
Fees and Offers
Annual Fee: ₹499 (Waived upon spending ₹3 lakh)
Welcome Benefit: EazyDiner membership worth ₹695
LED Version Charge: ₹999 (Waived until May 31, 2026)
What Makes This Card Special?
Until now, CheQ was merely a platform for credit card bill payments; however, with this launch, the company has made a significant entry into the rewards and credit ecosystem. This card has been designed based on data derived from 1.5 crore credit cards and 40 lakh users. Historically, users faced challenges such as scattered rewards and cumbersome redemption processes; with this card, however, everything is consolidated in a single place. According to the company, its unified rewards system is its greatest strength.
