Good Morning Britain issued a Keir Starmer alert just minutes into Tuesday's show, which Susanna Reid and Ed Balls hosted. It follows the Prime Minister's accusation that Olly Robbins deliberately obstructed the truth about Peter Mandelson's vetting scandal. Starmer told the House of Commons on Monday afternoon that the Foreign Office was to blame for a "staggering" decision not to brief him about the vetting advice. Reid began: "I think for many people watching, they won't be an intricate detail of the process which Sir Keir Starmer insists he followed - insists that Olly Robbins should have told him.

"Olly Robbins will probably go to the House of Commons today and insist he followed the process. It just goes back to the fact that at the end of 2024, Keir Starmer thought, 'Who is the right man for the job as US Ambassador when you have got Trump as the President, it's the prince of darkness'.

"He'd already been told he was a walking red flag - I don't know what else he needed to know resting on, 'Well, he failed the security vetting, but no one told me.'

"You could hear in the House of Commons yesterday, that's not going to cut the mustard, even among some of his own backbenchers."

Robbins is due to face MPs at 9am today at the Foreign Affairs Select Committee amid continued questions over Mandelson's appointment.

Last week, he was sacked after his department reportedly did not tell Starmer that Mandelson had failed the vetting process.

Meanwhile, Tory Leader Kemi Badenoch has secured an emergency debate on the issues which is expected later today.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
