New Delhi: The release date of Emraan Hashmi’s much awaited film Awarapan 2 has finally been decided. It is the sequel to the 2007 hit film Awarapan, in which Disha Patani will now be seen in the lead role. The film will be released in theaters on August 14, 2026, which falls on the Independence Day weekend.

Story of Awarapan 2

In the first film, white pigeons played an important role in the story. The makers have tried to keep the old memories fresh in this sequel also. In the recently released teaser glimpses, Disha Patani is shown releasing a pigeon and Emraan Hashmi is shown holding a locket. A tattoo of a pigeon was also seen on Imran’s hand, which reminds the fans of the old film.

The film is being directed by Nitin Kakkar, while the screenplay has been written by Bilal Siddiqui. This sequel is being made on a much bigger scale than the first film directed by Mohit Suri.

Producer Vishesh Bhatt said, “Awarapan is not just a film but a huge emotional experience for cinema. We have made the production grand with stunning visuals, but the soul of the film lies in its deep story and powerful music. Imran has played Shivam’s pain brilliantly. The inclusion of Disha Patani has given new colors to the story.”

There will be a clash with Lahore 1947

With the release of Awarapan 2 scheduled for 14th August 2026, there is an exciting competition in Bollywood. Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s film Lahore 1947 (produced by Aamir Khan) is scheduled to release on 13 August 2026. Both the films will face each other on the Independence Day weekend, which can give a tough competition at the box office.

The production of Awarapan 2 is in the final stages in Mumbai. This is also Disha Patani’s first project with Vishesh Films. Fans are now eagerly waiting for the release of both the films. This clash between Imran-Disha pair and Sunny Deol’s action-packed film is going to make Independence Day 2026 memorable.
