Ronnie O'Sullivan took to social media with a major announcement hours before the start of his World Snooker Championship campaign. The seven-time winner was drawn against He Guoqiang in the opening round of this year's Crucible showpiece. It certainly won't be easy for the Rocket, who has already been beaten by the 25-year-old on two previous occasions.
They last met at the International Championship in 2024, with O'Sullivan securing a 6-2 victory. He will be desperate to earn back-to-back victories over He to square up their overall record and book his place in the second round. The man from Essex is hunting an unprecedented eighth world title, which would make him the most decorated champion in snooker history.
Just hours before taking to the baize, O'Sullivan posted a major announcement on social media as he confirmed the launch of his new project, The Rocket Method, in China.
He said: "Big news for snooker in China! We have just launched the full Chinese version of The Rocket Method, my 12-hour snooker masterclass.
"To all snooker channels and influencers in China: please help us spread the word about our new Chinese website across China and support the promotion of premium snooker content."
O'Sullivan is no stranger to educating the next generation of snooker players, having previously opened his own academy in Saudi Arabia.
The venture was launched in 2024 with the aim of developing the sport's best talents from around the world. O'Sullivan has taken a hands-on role with the academy, regularly offering his expertise to budding professionals.
He also lives in nearby Dubai, having relocated from the UK to the Middle East last year with his wife, Laila Rouass.
Speaking at the launch of the facility, which was opened by Saudi events kingpin Turki Alalshikh, he said: "This is a fantastic new facility and I am excited to be working here alongside the best talent in the kingdom.
"In snooker, like most sports, there is no substitute for hard work, and this academy will give players an opportunity to practice in a great environment. I would love to see tour players and even world champions from Saudi Arabia one day.
"It will give me great satisfaction to play a role in their development. It's a pleasure to be working with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh on our shared ambition to bring through new players and grow the sport in the region."
